Policies
Absence Policy
Periodically, unavoidable emergencies arise that conflict with after-school rehearsals or performances for members of the Providence HS Bands. Work conflicts, social conflicts, homework, and/or driver's ed are never excused absences. Band must be your first priority during the season in order for everyone to be successful. If you do encounter an unavoidable emergency, communication is key!
Students requesting an excused absence from a MARCHING BAND rehearsal must first email Ms. Kilroy, then complete this form at least 48 hours in advance or immediately upon the emergency occurring to possibly be excused. MARCHING BAND Students are allowed three rehearsal absences. More than three absences OR two absences in a row may result in you being removed from the program. A missed Thursday rehearsal will result in the inability to perform at halftime at the football game, and in some cases, the following Saturday competition.
Students requesting an excused absence from a MARCHING BAND performance must email Ms. Kilroy AND complete the Absence Form Request at least 2 weeks in advance or immediately upon the emergency occurring to possibly be excused. MARCHING BAND Students are allowed one performance absence. More than one absence may result in you being removed from the program.
Requests for CONCERT ENSEMBLES events follow the timeline requirements in the band handbook. Not all requests will be granted.
An Absence Form Request without another additional email to Ms. Kilroy is automatically unexcused.
Thank you for your dedication to your ensemble!
